josh Who is this Nobal Glomad?

At age 36 I wet kippered myself in the face. Refusing point blank to milestone my life with unnecessary upheaval at the four zero, I chucked it (mostly) in… about 80% in… sold the art deco bachelor pad, waived politely adieu to some loyal clients, storaged pantone swatches, dropped the felines to mother’s for lodging and jumped aboard Qantas New Delhi-bound.

Nobal Glomad is a semi-polite shared slice of things I’ve seen, touched, tasted, licked and loved. Everything from design to music, food to photography, architecture to people and a little commentary on yesterday, today and what is yet to be. My name is Josh Murray… I am Glomad.

Hungry for more? Here’s my autobiographical creative background

Ever since winning the prestigious 6th Grade Primary School Bookwork Prize, design and art direction has remained in my blood. At University I completed a Bachelor of Business degree. Deciding to pursue a marketing/advertising focused study path was, and still remains a no regrets decision. This gave me the solid foundation to be able to establish and manage a full-time design studio up until mid 2009. Most of my out of class University hours were dedicated to art directing the campus magazine and building my first darkroom… this is where my love of all things typographic, photographic and paper stock’d began.

Post graduation I jetted off to London. I worked for two years in the design studio of Impact FCA, a creative agency owned by the Publicis Group. There I learnt the art of creative process, philosophy, production and most importantly how to work to ridiculous client deadlines. They also granted me the freedom to jump a jet to the continent every few months… planting the seed for my need to continue exploring our world. Travel will always be my finest teacher.

Upon returning to Australia I set up Josh Murray Design under several different names and guises focusing on brand development, art direction and graphic design. The world of online evolved like wildfire in the 90s as did my service offering to include web… and those dreaded gif banners. Being eBay’s sole Australian supplier of online advertising creative for their first year of local operation made me a world authority on 10 kilobyte ad creative.

In 2007 I launched Josh & Louis, a high-end furniture collection (and love project) representing a culture clash of classic French rococo and modernity. The Collection is about the finest standard of finish and working with artisans at the top of their trade.

Today I work with a select group of clients after design that balances atheistic with usability and innovation. This includes crafting sharp and individual brands, packaging and promotional design and online environment consultation and execution… from simple 3 page brochureware to fully fledged blog and CMS systems. You can view some of my portfolio pieces here in the Design section.

That’s enough self-online indulgence. Have a project in mind you would like to discuss? Please send me an email.
